Rayka Kumru (she/they) is a sexual wellness expert with over a decade under her belt as an educator, consultant, and communications strategist around the world. A serial dissident, taboo tackler, and tenacious advocate; she pushes for better access to comprehensive, inclusive, age-appropriate, medically-accurate, sex-positive, and culturally respectful content and resources.

With a B.A in Sociology and Critical Studies in Sexuality from The University of British Columbia (Canada), a Master’s Degree in Sexology from Curtin University (Australia), and a Master’s Degree in Marketing Communications from Istanbul Bilgi University (Turkey); Rayka has married her depth of knowledge and years of frontline experience as a sexual health educator and consultant with her creative savvy in the digital space. Having worked on countless communications initiatives – researching, leading design, and developing and implementing strategies – she is constantly innovating to create new avenues for access to credible information. A firm believer in life-long learning, she’s currently diving deeper into plain language and visual communication design.

Rayka is the founder of tabukamu.com, an interactive sexual health and relationships site for Turkish-speaking youth that was featured as one of UNESCO’s 35 digital sexuality education platforms around the globe. She is also the author of two children’s books, Ben (Me) and Hoş Geldim (I’m Welcome). Rayka’s expertise is sought internationally, and she uses her sizable social media followings as platforms for education and advocacy. She has been featured in media publications like Psychologies, Campaign, Taz Germany, Vogue, Hürriyet, Parents, and more.

After bouncing for years between Istanbul and the West Coast, Rayka decided to make Vancouver home is grateful to be living on the traditional, ancestral and unceeded lands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-waututh) Nations as an uninvited guest.
