Şebnem İşigüzel
Şebnem İşigüzel, born in 1973 and studied anthropology. Her first book, Hanene Ay Doğacak (The Future Looks Bright), was published in 1993 and awarded the Yunus Nadi Short Story Prize. Her other books are: Öykümü Kim Anlatacak? (Who Will Tell My Story?, short stories, 1994), Eski Dostum Kertenkele (My Old Buddy Lizard, novel, 1996), Neşeli Kadınlar Arasında (Amongst Joyful Women, essays, 2000), Kaderimin Efendisi (The Master of My Fate, short stories, 2001), Sarmaşık (Ivy, novel, 2002), Çöplük (The Garbage Dump, novel, 2004), Resmigeçit (Parade, novel 2008), and Kirpiklerimin Gölgesinde (In the Shadow of my Eyelashes, novel, 2010), Venüs (Venus, novel, 2013), Gözyaşı Konağı Ada 1876 (Palace of Tears Island 1876, novel, 2016), Ağaçtaki Kız (The Girl in the Tree, novel, 2016), Bir Puding Hikayesi (A Pudding Story, children’s book, 2017), İyilik (Goodness, novel, 2019). Memoria (Memoria, novel, 2024). With her last novel, Memoria (2024) she won the 2024 Sedat Simavi Literature Award. Şebnem İşigüzel is living in Istanbul and she is still working on her own novels.
