Sara Şahinkanat (1966, Istanbul) finished the Üsküdar American Academy for Girls and the Bosphorus University Department of Translation and Interpreting. After first working in translation, she moved to advertising. Her son Tan was born in 2001. The illustrated books she wrote originally to entertain him are now read by countless others. Kertenkele’nin Sihirli Kuyruğu (The Lizard’s Magical Tail) won the Acceptance award at the 2009 Oshima International Handmade Illustrated Book Contest held in Japan. Her Kim Korkar Kırmızı Başlıklı Kız’dan? (Who’s Afraid of The Red Riding Hood?) won the 2009 ÇGYD Best Illustrated Story Book award.
