Gaye Boralıoğlu was born in Istanbul. She studied Systematic Philosophy and Logic at the Faculty of Arts at Istanbul University, where she also completed her master’s degree. She worked as a journalist, copywriter, and screenwriter. Her novels and short stories were published as books under the titles Hepsi Hikâye (All Story), Meçhul (Unbeknown) , Aksak Ritim (Syncopated Rhythm), İçimdeki Ses (Voice Inside of Me), Mübarek Kadınlar (Blessed Women), Dünyadan Aşağı (Falling From Earth), and Alâmetler Kitabı (Book of Omens). She also co-authored a nonfiction book titled Haysiyet (Dignity) with Ümit Kıvanç.

In addition to many television series, she wrote the screenplay for the film Eylül Fırtınası directed by Atıf Yılmaz. Her short story Mi Hatice was made into a short film and participated in various festivals. Some of her short stories were adapted for the theater under the title Muamma.

She won the Notre Dame de Sion Literature Award Honorable Mention for Aksak Ritim (Syncopated Rhythm), the Yunus Nadi Short Story Award for Mübarek Kadınlar (Blessed Women), the Duygu Asena Novel Award for Dünyadan Aşağı (Falling From Earth), and the Türkân Saylan Art Award for Alâmetler Kitabı (Book of Omens). Her stories and books have been translated into various languages, including German and Arabic. Her novel Meçhul (Unbeknown), published in German under the title Der Fall Ibrahim, was selected for the ‘Between the Lines’ program at the 2017 Frankfurt Book Fair.
